Normandy is full of historical and architectural treasures that testify to its rich past. Among them, the Château d'Auberville is a splendor that deserves to be discovered and admired.

Located in the charming town of Auberville-la-Manuel, this castle dating from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries is a perfect example of Norman architecture of the time. Although time has left its mark on this majestic residence, the castle remains an eloquent testimony to the elegance and grandeur of the past.

Surrounded by a rectangular enclosure, decorated with turrets and an imposing entrance pavilion, brilliantly designed by Ferdinand Marrou, the castle is a real jewel. A dovecote completes this prestigious residence. Although the property is private and closed to the public, one can imagine the scale and beauty of this mansion by admiring the subtle details of its architecture.

The house, built between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, is an architectural splendour, with its portal dating from the late sixteenth century and early seventeenth century. The cart bears the date of 1633, while the dovecote dates back to the seventeenth century.

The building materials used for this masterful work are varied, ranging from sandstone to flint, brick, wood, mixed apparatus, ashlar, bossing, rubble, timber and partial plaster. The elevation is ordered with a square floor and an attic floor, while the roof consists of different types of roofs, such as the long-sided roof, hip, covered gable, open gable, conical roof and pavilion roof. The cover is made of slate, thatch or flat tile.

The typology of this magnificent house includes remarkable elements, such as the grid timber panel, the cross of St. Andrew, the masonry portal, the flint apparatus, the checkerboard decoration, the axe iron, the glazed brick decoration and the circular dovecote.

The Château d'Auberville is a real jewel that deserves to be discovered by all history and architecture enthusiasts. Although it is not open to the public, it is possible to admire its remarkable architecture from the outside and immerse yourself in the history of Normandy.
